Dropkick's Al Barr rocks and rolls The Clock

As we entered the dimly lit Hub Multipurpose Room just hours before the upcoming 2007 Spring Fling concert, we stared at the bands sitting at the tables by the windows and our nerves consumed us. The scene we saw was in no way what we had been expecting. Upon telling others of our approaching interview with Al Barr, lead singer of the Dropkick Murphys, most people responded with, "you know, they'll probably be wasted the entire time.

Centripetal with a side of chicken wings

A small, excited crowd gathered together at the bar at Mandarin Taste to celebrate the release of the most recent volume of Centripetal, a Plymouth State University sponsored collection of short stories, poems, and artwork written by students and faculty. The Tuesday night release party was kicked off with the music of local band Damn Near Heroes, acoustic guitar played by Doug Setzler and vocals by Alex Cefalo.

In recent years, the Spring Fling headliners have been acts billed as hip-hop, R&B or rap. This year, however, the PSU campus was due for a change. During Spring Fling 2007, students were rocked by a stellar Battle of the Bands on Friday, May 4 and a killer rock-show from Catch 22 and Dropkick Murphys on Saturday, May 5.

Back Porch Development sounds more like a home renovation project than a band name, but in the two years since the band has formed, they've constructed a name for themselves. The band started two years ago behind 99 Highland Street. From there they practiced and worked on new songs.

For the past year, many students have been studying and growing artistically by working on their senior projects. The final results were exhibited in the Silver and Draper and Maynard buildings, where many students passed through to stop and appreciate the amount of hard work that the seniors put forth.
