Jatoba and Weird Beards cheered many at Hong Kong

It was an eventful first week of December at the premier live music venue in Plymouth: Ernie's Club Hong Kong. For those of you shaking your head in utter disbelief at my previous statement, put down your eggrolls and walk upstairs- the Kong has more live music than any other bar in town.

Mandarin holds Centripetal release

Poets and Writers released the first Centripetal of the 2009-2010 school year Tuesday, December 8. Plymouth students, along with a handful of faculty turned out to the monthly poetry reading at Mandarin Taste this past Tuesday. This month's open mic doubled as the release of Centripetal, Poets and Writers' collection of poetry, micro-fiction and original images.

My vote for album of the decade

Given the volatile state the world has existed in these last 10 years, it comes as no surprise that the 00's were an amazing time for politically charged rock n' roll. Artists like Bruce Springsteen and the Dixie Chicks lived and died by their thoughts and songs on the state of the union over the last decade, and the world saw some of the best politically themed music since the Vietnam war.

A Simple Plea

The last 10 years have sure been hell on the music industry. It's time we pay our respects to the death of the album, the death of the artist. The consumer-driven youth culture has spoken, and it seems no one wants to sit down and listen to a record anymore.
