Volleyball Completes Double Sweep on Saturday

The PSU Volleyball team had a successful weekend, bringing home two victories from their non-conference tri-match at Smith College on Saturday. The Panthers swept both Smith (25-14, 25-16, 25-22) and Mount Holyoke (25-20, 25-13, 25-12) in three sets each.
In the match versus Smith, junior Mikki Taffe (Sandown, N.H.) led offensively, posting nine kills. Freshman Alisha Flanagan (Milton, N.H.) followed close behind with six kills and senior Kirsten Perrotta (Hudson, N.H.) contributed with 31 assists. On defense, sophomore Brenna Peruch (Ca ve Creek, A.Z.) led with 19 digs and three service aces. Junior Brianna Wojtas also had a strong game, adding a team-high three blocks and chalking up four kills.
Against Mount Holyoke, sophomore Claire Sporer (Medford, O.R.) led with 14 kills on offense and Flanagan chipped in with 10 kills. Perrotta posted 33 more assists. Defensively, the Panthers had 14 service aces, with sophomore Megan Bailey (Canterbury, N.H.) leading with four. Peruch reached double digits in digs again with 14, while Taffe contributed with five blocks.
With the wins, the Panthers improve to 17-6 (1-3 LEC) on the season. PSU is on the road again this Saturday for another tri-match hosted by UMass Dartmouth. They will take on conference rival UMD at 12:00 p.m. and face Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in a non-conference match at 2:00 p.m.
