On Wednesday, Feb.3, Poets and Writers hosted its fall content Centripetal release at the Lucky Dog. Over forty people were there to celebrate and ten of them performed.
Taylor Becker, a first year student said, “This was my first time attending. I thought it was a really interesting experience. The people who recited their work did an amazing job”.
The event was held like an open mic. Complimentary food and copies of Plymouth State’s new magazine were provided for all attending.
Hannah Dutton, president of centripetal, opened with a poem called, “Wonder Woman Sustains an Injury.” Dutton said, “I’ve performed almost every month since freshman year”. She is now a junior. She also said, “What inspired me to be apart of centripetal was my love for poetry, words, and sharing them.”
Becker later said, “Some pieces were deep and emotional and others were more uplifting and whimsical.”
Kaitlyn Jones, an alumni of Plymouth State, attended the event as well and said, “This is my first time attending a Centripetal release. I don’t know if they had these when I went here, but it was nice to see people performing their work. I like that some were emotional, but others really made me laugh.”
Centripetal is open for anyone to join. To get involved you can email Hannah Dutton at hdutton@mail.plymouth.edu. Their meetings are
