Tyler Tippin, a first year student and Chemistry major, joined WPCR this semester looking for a place to share his love of music.
“I listened to it a lot, and I had music that I wanted to hear,” said Tippin.
WPCR let Tippin in with open arms, “Everyone is really cool.”
Although he doesn’t currently have a show name, Tippin goes by DJ Tippy Wap on the air. He has plans to improve his show, he wants to “call people on the air, play a lot of music that I like, and tell people about it”
He also has plans to create different moods within his shows “I want to have moods for my shows, have a darker mood for Mondays, and a lighter mood for Tuesdays”
“I’m gonna start bringing vinyl into the station, and playing it on the air,” said Tippin.
While he is on air, you will hear some his favorite styles of music, “I really like dream pop, Baroque, hip hop, and R&B”
"Music has changed for me over time. When I was little it was about listening to it, and learning the lyrics,” said Tippin. “Over time, it has become more personal to me, and its something that I've learned to make myself. Listening to others music drives me to create my own"
Tippin currently makes his own music using his keyboard, and guitar. He hopes to participate in future open mic nights.
When he isn’t creating music, or getting ready for a new show, Tippin likes to read philosophy books, he also hopes for a future career in pharmaceuticals.
Tippin’s show airs every Monday night 5 to 7pm and Tuesday night from 3 to 5pm on 91.7 WCPR and online at www.wpcr.org
