After losing three of the top four scorers from last season, the Panthers men’s lacrosse team is still trying to figure out their team and who will step up to try and get the offense going. Phil Pichel (Hopkinton, MA) has 19 points so far in the early campaign off 11 goals and eight assists. They have also seen great offensive play from sophomore Galen Antolino (Exeter, NH) who leads the team with 12 goals. Sophomore Adam Haversat (Cape Elizabeth, ME) is still a huge force on defense and is a ground ball machine with 41 so far in the new season as well as causing 13 turnovers.

In the absence of former goalie Chris St. George, junior Jayson LaRiviere (Chelmsford, MA) has taken over net minding duties. With only 9.85 goals allowed and 64 saves he has started off strong and keeps the Panthers in most games.

All games for the men have so far been on the road, the first three losses came at University of New England, Lasell and Castleton. Their first win came at Mass Maritime in a game that saw Antolino and sophomore Pete Allen (Newbury, NH) each pick up three goals. The next game at New England College saw the men claw their way back from a three goal deficit to force overtime. Despite the valiant fight back New England would take the win with an 11-10 final.

After losing at Clark the boys picked up a much needed conference win at Umass Dartmouth where they scored nine goals. They start their home slate this Saturday, April 9th against Umass Boston and look to be strong in conference play as they move forward this season.
