Men's soccer had a busy weekend. The team traveled to Western Connecticut on Saturday, October 15, and then to Lyndon State on Monday, the October 17.
In the first game against Western Connecticut, the Panthers lost to the Colonials, 4-3. The match was tightly contested with both teams battling till the final minute. The first half ended with the score tied 1-1 coming off a goal from Nick Rutherford (Sydney, AUS).
In the second half, the Panthers answered with two quick goals by Dan Shaw and Truls Julseth after the Colonials started the half with a goal in the 50th minute pushing the score to 3-2. But that lead would not last as the Colonials would come roaring back in the final 20 minutes of the match to score two straight goals of their own to give them the 4-3 win over the Panthers.
In the second game, Plymouth faced off against the Hornets of Lyndon State. The first half was very quiet scoring wise until the second half when the Hornets scored two quick goals in the 49th and 50th minute. The Panthers then answered scoring two goals in the 70th and 74th minute by Erik Ljunglof (Orebro, SWE) and Nick Rutherford to tie the game up, 2-2. The game went into overtime where both teams were unable to find the net for both OT sessions, which meant the game ended in a draw.
Junior forward, Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Australia), had a solid two games as he posted two goals on a to- tal of 14 shots over the course of the two games and even added an assist.
Senior goalkeeper, Felix Lindberg (Stockholm, Sweden), had a total of 13 saves but only played in one of the two games.
The Panthers' record changes to 4-7-2 (1-4 LEC). Plymouth's next match is on the road against the Anchormen of Rhode Island College (10-3-1, 3-1-1 LEC). The game is on Saturday, October 22, at1pm.
