The Plymouth State Men’s Ice Hockey team fell short to Uti- ca College in a non-conference game 6-4 at Utica Memorial Auditorium. In the first period, Matt Volonnino scored first for the Pan- thers just three minutes into the game. Senior Michael Economos (Crystal Lake, I.L.) would follow, scoring at the twelve-minute mark on a power play goal. It would be the Panthers only goal out of seven power play chances. By the end of the first period, Plymouth was trailing Utica 3-2.
Sophomore Michael Covach (Shillington, P.A.) and sopho- more Ludvig Steenberg (Stockholm, Sweden) would score goals for the Panthers in the second period.
Steenberg would score his goal in the final 14 seconds of the second period coming off an assist from senior Tommy Dowell (Olathe, K.S.) his second of the night. It would be the last time the Panthers would get the puck in the net.
The Panthers would go on to give up three more goals in the second period. The third period would remain scoreless on both sides. Sophomore goalie Evan Mo- relli (Reading, M.A.) would finish the game with 19 saves. Plymouth State also out shot Utica 32-25.
Plymouth State makes their home debut on Thursday, November 3, against Stonehill College.
