Plymouth Women’s Hockey Top Salve Regina, Fall to Saint A’s

On November 19th, the Panthers traveled to Middletown, Rhode Island to face off against the Seahawks. This would be the Panthers sixth game on the road this season.
The game started off in the Panthers favor with a strong first period that ended 2-0 with Panthers leading. The first goal was on a power play goal at 15:43 by freshman forward Alexis Fagan (Wakefield, R.I), who was assisted by senior forward Lauren Connelly (Braintree, M.A).
The second goal came with seconds to go at 19:24 by sophomore forward Kelsey Roy (Ft. Collins, CO) who was assisted by Fagan, one of her two assists for the night.
After the first intermission, the Seahawks came back flying, scoring a goal just 2:10 into the second period. The goal was scored by freshman defenseman Amanda Fantasia assisted on the play by freshman forward Erika Martin.This comeback goal was quickly followed up by a Panther unassisted goal by sophomore forward Brooke Maggy (Alhambra, C.A) at 6:57
The goal was trailed less than a minute later by Plymouth’s Lauren Connelly, her second point of the night, assisted by Fagan which would be her third and last point of the game. Seven minutes later Salve Regina scored their second and final goal of the night on a power play. This was netted by junior defenseman Brooke Morgan assisted by Fantasia and Martin, their second points for the game.
The Panthers would hold off the Seahawks for the rest of the game, leaving the third period scoreless. Plymouth headed home with their second win on the season, set to face off against Saint Anselm at home on November 22nd.

At home hosting against Saint Anselm Hawks on November 22nd, the Panthers would come up short.
The first goal of the game came from a power play that gave the Hawk’s the upper hand. Fellow Senior Alison Quinn and Junior forward Alison Butler assisted senior forward Martha Findley. A minute and a half later the Hawks stuck again with a goal by Senior forward Alex Starzyk who was assisted by Sophomore Sara McNamara with help from Morgan, her second and final point of the night.
The Panthers would make it on the board at 4:44 in the first to score the last goal of the period. The goal was netted by junior defenseman Courtney Evans assisted on the play by Shannon Hickey and Haley Branov an.
The second period was a rough one, with Saint Anselm scoring three goals in under three minutes halfway through the period. The first one was a power play goal at 11:22 scored by Butler, assisted by Starzyk and Quinn.
The next two goals came in a span of three minutes, putting the Pan- thers into a rough position.
Heading into the third period down 5-2, the Panthers made a comeback goal 6:00 minutes into the final stretch. The goal was scored on a power play by Branovan (Canandaigua, NY) assisted by Hickey, (Arlington, Mass) and freshman forward Caitlin Conner (Bow, N.H). The Hawks put the lid on the game with less than a minute to go at 19:21 putting it across the line with a goal by Cogner, (Swanton, VT) assisted by Keift (Littleton, Colo) and Paige Gorecki (Homer Glen, IL). The Panthers finished the game with seven shots on net. Plymouth’s Goaltenders Mariah Trupp (Topeka, KS) and Emelie Lindqvist (Gullerasen, Sweden) who had a combined total of 58 saves for the game. Plymouth will play again this Friday December 2nd, at home against Neumann College.
The Panthers record stand at (2-5-1) regular season and (2-4-0) NEHC.
