As the month of November comes to a close, the men’s basketball team is currently 2-2. After a win against Rivier, the men won a close home opener against University of Norwich before dropping two on the road against Castleton and Colby Sawyer. They are currently being anchored off the bench by leading scorer Jack Preston (Nashua, NH), who has 17.8 points per game on the young season.

One area where the Panthers have struggled so far this season is rebounding. The Panthers as a team have pulled down 34.5 rebounds per game making them the lowest ranked team in that category in the Little East Conference.

The home opener against Norwich was an intense back and forth affair. The Panthers as a team were 47% from the floor and Preston had 18 points. The real difference was turnovers; the Cadets had 25 turnovers in the game, which Plymouth capitalized on for 27 points. In the end, Plymouth would win the game 67-62.

The Panthers traveled to Castleton, Vermont for their next matchup against the Spartans. The Panthers trailed for most of the game despite 16 points from Preston and ten from Senior Curtis Arsenault (Berlin, NH). The Panthers were able to bring it within one in the closing seconds before the Spartans squeaked by with a 52-50 victory.

The Panthers would lose another close one against Colby Sawyer 90-82. Preston would contribute 23 points off of the bench; Plymouth would also get 16 from Freshman Jaylen Leroy (Manchester, NH), and 11 from Junior Brian Boulay (Keene, NH).

The Panthers will have played a road game against Lyndon State before available press time. Plymouth State’s next game is the conference play opener against Rhode Island College on Saturday, Dec. 3. Their next home game is Tuesday, Dec. 6, against Framingham State.
