Music: During the beginning of the week of September 24, 2007, the single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” by Soulja Boy still held its spot at #1 on the Billboard 100, marking the third week where it sat there. It would not be until later in the week, on September 29, when Soulja Boy’s reign on the charts would conclude. The single “Stronger” by Kanye West would then seize the #1 title.
Movies: Also during this week in 2007, films such as comedy Good Luck Chuck (starring comedian and actor Dane Cook) and adventure drama Into the Wild, based on the book of the same title, were all the rage. Right around the corner, the movie Game Plan (starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) would be released on September 28.
Video Games: For gamers, this week in 2007 marked Xbox history. On September 25, Halo 3 was released for the console, and grossed $170 million dollars within the United States in only 24 hours. The franchise continued to release successful games in the future, but nothing could compare to the record set by Halo 3 on September 25, 2007, which was the record for the highest grossing opening day in video game history.
Books: Finally knocking A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini off of the top of The New York Times bestseller list, the thriller novel You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson and Howard Roughan swooped in to top the list during this week in 2007.
