Who wants to pay to watch shows on Netflix? Most of the world in fact. But have you felt the benefits of paying for YouTube Red? Not only can you FINALLY play your favorite songs on your phone when the app is not open but you get exclusive access to shows produced by the YouTube company and shows produced by some of our favorite internet personalities. Rooster Teeth, MatPat, Smosh, CollegeHumor, Lindsey Sterling, even Disney has made a YouTube red show. Here’s why you should check them out, YouTube Red for starters does not have commercials. SCORE! You are allowed a three month free trial when you first sign up!
But here’s the kicker, there is one show that should be recommended to anyone and everyone and it is called Good Game. The Game Grumps, who produce this show are a YouTube personality that built up their fame slowly over the last five years before they have finally become big enough to expand their horizons. Founded and run by Arin Hanson, Game Grumps features it’s two top co-stars Arin himself and Daniel Avidan in their new YouTube red show Good Game. The shows plot revolves around a World of Warcraft like game called KillCore and five elite players of this game and their coach trying to win a tournament for $1 million. The show features much more than just gaming. It features characters dealing with real problems, has a cast that is largely diverse and who face the challenges many Americans can relate too. Good Game’s message deals with racism and admonishes the proverbial white knight that saves the day as well as themes like romance, alcoholism, tortured pasts, and insecurities everyone faces. Good Game’s two main characters are Arin Hanson as Riland, a “retired” gamer who faces difficulty in past friendships and is reluctantly forced into the KillCore tournament and Dan Avidan as Alex, the overly kind best friend who lives on Riland’s couch and is excited about the tournament which will give him a chance to get out of Riland’s house. Both characters face challenges that lots of viewers can relate too, however it is their personalities and character development that keep people watching.
Even if YouTube Red is not something up you are interested in, Good Game could be! You never know what you are missing out on otherwise. So sign up and take those three months of heaven where you can watch and re-watch as many shows as you want, as well as experience the sweet accords of Good Game and on the bonus side listen to your music without the app open.
