Weekly Morning Class and Afternoon Activities program
Description
The Weekly Morning Class and Afternoon Activities Program is intended for students interested in learning Mandarin Chinese on their own schedule. Students can begin on any Monday throughout the year and have the flexibility to decide upon the length of their course. Students can enroll for a minimum of two weeks to one year or more. Classes are held for beginner through advanced students and run for 3 hours 45 minutes of classes in the mornings per day, Monday to Thursday, for a total of 15 hours per week. This program is open to students of all ages. However, college students may be able to earn credits back to their own home institutions, depending upon their policies. The morning Mandarin classes can be complemented with a variety of afternoon activities. There are two options for which students do not have to pay any additional fees. They can either participate in volunteer service learning placements at local non-profit organizations in Kunming or take part in language exchange activities with local students, completely free of cost. Alternatively, for an added fee, students can also engage in one-on-one tutorial sessions with their Mandarin instructors to hone their Mandarin skills or intern at companies in Kunming in order to gain an understanding of the business environment of one of the newest economic superpowers in the world. Over the weekends, from Friday to Sunday, students can opt to travel to various places of cultural and historic interest in and around China. We organize educational excursions over weekends during summers. For the rest of the year, they can travel independently. -Small class sizes, normally 2-4 students but with a maximum of 7 students-University transfer credit available
