PSU Students Try to End the Ban on Gay Blood

On Apr. 2 and 3, the American Red Cross came to Plymouth State University to host a blood drive. “The blood drive is doing very well, for the number of donors,” says James Dube, who has organized four other blood drives in the past. There were many eager participants to volunteer and donate, but the right to donate isn’t a freedom everyone has.

President Steen Focuses on Achievements, Innovation, and Academic Mission at State of the University

On Wed., Mar. 28, President Sara Jayne Steen welcomed members of the Plymouth State University community to her fifth annual State of the University Address, where she versed the audience on the current state of PSU, focusing on achievements, challenges, and future goals.

Food Pantry

Ut Prosim – It’s What’s For Dinner

 

On Tues., Feb. 28, the Student Support Foundation announced the opening of a student food pantry and celebrated the debut with an open house on the back end of Bagley House.

The student food pantry is a project sponsored by the Student Support Foundation that aims to provide PSU students in need with the foundations of a substantial diet.

As part of international week, an international market was held in the Hub on Thursday Nov, 17. Many different booths were set up along the Pawsway and fireplace lounge. They each represented a different nation or organization. They each included information about the different cultures and lifestyles.

Ski Day 2012 has once again proven to be a highly successful Winter Carnival event, garnering more student involvement than any other event, and quelling students' craving for bountiful fresh powder and a day devoted to skiing and riding.

Parade of Flags

To kick off International week, a parade of flags was held in hub. It contained flags from all nations, held by students. It was kicked off by President Steen with a reading of the poem Fire and Ice by Robert Frost. The parade began in the Hub, proceeded out to the Green, then returned to the Hub.

First Fire in the FPL

HUB Fireplace Lounge

On November 9th, 2011 The annual first fire was lit in the fire place in the fireplace in the HUB. PSU's President Steen had the honor of lighting the fire. Professor Liz Ahl followed the lighting by reading a poem entitled "The Fire of Driftwood" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Republican Presidential Candidate Buddy Roemer Comes to PSU

Hage Room 10/5

On Wed., Oct. 5, the first lecture of many in the Presidential Candidate Lecture Series took place in the Hage room of the HUB. This series, brought to the Students of PSU and Plymouth community members by the Student Senate, hosted Republican Presidential Candidate, Buddy Roemer. This night was held for the purpose of Roemer to introduce himself and his stance on the many issues that are facing the country right now, and will continue to play vital roles in the next Presidential Election.
