New Add/Drop Policies for Next Year

Attention students and faculty! A new add/drop policy will go into effect for the Fall 2002 semester. There are three significant changes in the new policy.

First, students will no longer be required to obtain an advisor’s signature on add/drop forms.

Second, the deadline to make schedule changes – both adds and drops – is the second Friday of the semester for full semester courses and performance studies. There are separate deadlines (listed below) for half-semester courses, internships, practica, independent studies and individual enrollments.

Third, students may withdraw from a full semester course until the tenth Friday of the semester. Again, there are separate deadlines for courses which meet less than a full semester.

What does this mean to you?

Add and drop slips, signed by the instructor must be processed at the Registrar’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on the add/drop deadline. Missing this deadline could be costly. For example, all adds after the deadline will be assessed a $100 late fee – per course! And courses may not be dropped after the deadline – you must withdraw. Courses from which students withdraw will remain on the transcript but will not be calculated in the grade point average.

Most importantly, it means you should check your schedule at least once in mySILAS when you return to school. Be sure the schedule you are registered for is the schedule you are attending. Also, when you process an add, drop or withdrawal at the Registrar’s Office you will be given a copy of your new schedule. Retain this copy of your schedule as a receipt of the transaction.

For the complete text of the new policy, please consult the published Time and Room Schedule, the new Academic Catalog, or the Time and Room schedule in the Registrar’s homepage found at http://www.plymouth.edu/psc/registrar/paper/F2002_text.PDF. The deadlines for Fall 2002 are listed below:
