Greek Retraction Please

Dear Clock staff,

I was reading your February 20, 2004 paper and I saw what was headlined as “Struggle for Greek Life”. I, being a sorority member, was highly intrigued to see what was being said now. As I read I understood all aspects of the article and agreed with letting people know the recognized and unrecognized groups on campus but I wanted to make you aware that you have made a couple of mistakes.

I am a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and would like you please print a retraction letting people know that we are NOT unrecognized. Rather, our chapter on this campus has closed completely. Our national headquarters does not agree with the changes the school has made and has weighed the pros and cons and decided to close our chapter.

Secondly, I know of absolutely no organization by the name Cobra Chi. There is no such Greek letter as Cobra and as far as I know, the only place that name is recognized is in “The Karate Kid”.

It would be greatly appreciated if a retraction of your mistake about my sorority was printed in next week’s paper.

Thank you,

Katie Petto
