PSU Student Involved in Near Fatal Snowmobile Accident

Plymouth State University sophomore, Chad Dingman, 20, suffered from a near fatal snowmobile accident on Friday, February 27 in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire. Dingman has been away from school since. At dusk on Friday night, Dingman and girlfriend, Kelly Warren of Lancaster, were riding Dingman’s snowmobile in a field. Dingman reportedly was riding at a speed near 60mph, when he hit a hard snowdrift. The sled was launched into the air, throwing Warren from the back of the sled. Dingman lost control of the vehicle and, lying face forward, landed with the back of the sled jamming into his stomach. Warren drove the snowmobile back to her home, where her parents rushed Dingman to Weeks Memorial hospital in Lancaster. Dingman had his spleen removed as a result of the accident. Doctors said that if he had landed a few inches down he would have ruptured his liver and died. Warren suffered no injuries. Dingman has been released from the hospital and is recovering at his home in Groveton, NH. He is a Business major at PSU and works in the Hartman Union Building. Dingman’s return to PSU is still undetermined.
