Spring Fling Act Backs Out

A popular hip-hop group were contracted to perform at the upcoming annual Spring Fling concert, but their label is currently pressuring them to perform at another venue the same night. The Spring Fling Committee is currently searching for a replacement act as it is unclear whether or not the original act will honor its contract.The act in question would cost the Spring Fling Committee approximately $35,000, and the remaining budgeted Spring Fling money is going towards opening bands, vendors, and novelties. Battle of the Bands application’s will be available April 14th and are due by the 30th of April.Spring fling events are scheduled to start Friday May 7th. Students should keep in mind that bracelets for admission to the concert are $5 if purchased in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets will be sold starting May 5th, and each student is allowed three guests. . Bracelets for guests will cost $20 each. Guest bracelets must be bought in advance as no guests will be able to purchase tickets at the door. Plymouth State students that are under the age of 18 will be admitted, but all guests must be 18 or older. It is currently undecided whether or not faculty will be able to bring minors to the show. Everyone must show an ID to enter the concert and there will be nothing allowed through other than yourself and your ID. No purses, backpacks, cameras, etc. This rule is strictly enforced. When purchasing bracelets students must show their student ID. This is the first year that there is a separate committee planning spring fling. PACE president Kevin Desmond is also the president of the committee, which consists of 9 other members. People interested in volunteering this year should contact Jess Cyr. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt for their help. A beer area will be available at the concert for people 21 and older, and students should remember to dress warm.
