Poetry lovers of all ages are invited to celebrate poetry at an event at Pease Public Library in Plymouth on Wednesday April 28 at 7:00 PM. The program will feature poets Carli Carrara and Jenny Highland, and will include time for other poets to read their work.Carli Carrara has had over 40 poems published in literary magazines, and recently had a poem published in Sojourner: A feminist Anthology. She has taught classes on poetry appreciation at the library, teaches poetry writing workshops, and has been a presenter at teacher conferences throughout New England. Carli is currently working on publishing a book of her work.Jenny Highland has had her work published in literary magazines. She is a lyric poet whose work has an emotional focus, and often deals with themes of nature. Jenny is a Doctor of Osteopathy, practicing in Plymouth. Both poets are active in “Women of Words,” a local writers’ group.Other poets are invited to read from their own work. Each reader will be limited to three minutes. Those wishing to participate are asked to call the library to register at 536-2616.Light refreshments will be served. Pease Public Library is located at the foot of the Common, at the corner of Russell and Highland in downtown Plymouth.
