On Saturday, April 24, Justincase made a stop at the Plymouth State University HUB Snack Bar and entertained a small but lively crowd with a great selection of music. So far, their tour has taken them through New York, Minnesota, Virginia, and into New Hampshire and Maine. Band members Justin (vocals, guitar), Nick (drums), and Hannah Tesco (bass) put the band together seven years ago and recently added Paul Christenson on guitar and vocals approximately four months ago. The foursome are a great combination and play terrific music, mostly songs they had written on their own, though they played a few covers. Opening for Justincase was the four-piece band Session, who played for about an hour before the next act came on. Their music was upbeat and well written; all the music was their own. They were received very well by the crowd, which grew substantially as they continued to play. Session is a hard-rock band out of Philadelphia that has been working its way towards the top since it began in 2001. They played well to the audience and were very entertaining and set the stage for what was to come.Paul Christenson took the stage after Session to play some of his songs while the band got ready to perform. Christenson used to be the main opening act for Justincase until he was invited to join the band itself several months ago. He now uses the time before Justincase plays to showcase the songs that he writes, which he plays on acoustic guitar. Not one verse into his first song, however, one of the strings on his guitar broke, and a short delay followed. However, after the repair he picked up right where he left off and entertained the crowd with upbeat songs he wrote about lost loves, his hometown highway, and other sentiments. At long last, it was time for Justincase to take the stage. The band takes their inspiration from contemporaries to the classics – they all love The Beatles but also look to Third Eye Blind, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Foo Fighters. Their music was extraordinary, a passion and without a doubt something they have dedicated their lives to. Their songs, mostly all of their own creation, were well written, musically fascinating, and overall the team put on a terrific show. Overall, the night was a huge success. Props to PACE for finding such talent and bringing it to Plymouth State. The night just continued to get better with each act that came onto the stage, and what a grand finale Justincase was. The concert was a wonderful way to kick off the weekend.
