Biederman’s Open Mic

The year’s first Biedermans Open Mic was held Tuesday, September 14th by PSU Poets and Writers. The crowd consisted of faculty, students, and local town members. There was not an empty seat in the house, and the audience was supportive as each person got up to share stories, poems, and thoughts.Poets and Writers gave out blow up microphones as encouragement to all who read. Nineteen students read including alumni returning specifically for the occasion. Tyler Musty, an all time favorite story teller down at Biedermans, came back with a story that had the audience in tears from laughter. Professors Liz Ahl, Paul Rogalus, and Diane Ricciardi also shared pieces.Poets and Writers announced that there will be a Home Coming reading October 1st in the fire place lounge and urges everyone to come and read – new readers and old. There will be special guest readers, such as Nicki Ross, Dan Singer and the first ever president of Poets and Writers, Crystal Lavoie. The current Vice president of Poets and Writers announced that “Centripetal is coming along, and deadlines are to be announced shortly.”At the end of the semester, Ed Dugas will be taking over for Paris Landry as president of Poets and Writers. Nate Blake will be taking over for Crystal Lavoie. The next Biedermans Open Mic will be held Tuesday October 5th.
