For everyone that is not aware, the Christian Science Organization, or CSO, has been operating on campus since spring of 2003. We are a relatively small, but intimate group, focusing on the subject of Spirit and how it affects our lives. How does spirituality affect our relationships with others? How does it aid us in handling life’s challenges? These are all topics we address in our weekly meetings. Last week, we focused on a spiritual perspective on the presidential race as well as reflections on the “riot” on Russell Street following the Red Sox win of the American League pennant. The CSO is receptive to all faiths and it does not proselytize, or attempt to convert others or inflict a particular set of beliefs on participants. Rather, we are interested in exploring and understanding everyone’s view on spirit and how it works. As references, we consider the relevance of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy along with the Bible, but other scriptures are open to discussion as well. Any student interested in receiving a free copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures may request the book at one of our meetings. The main focus of these meetings has been spirituality rather than religion. Spirituality.com is an excellent website for anyone who is interested in exploring aspects of their spirituality. Anyone interested in these topics or issues of their own is invited to our weekly discussions on Thursdays at 7:30 in Hyde Hall room 215.
