For Bush

Congratulations on your actual victory this time around, Mr. President. Now that you’ve actually been elected by a majority of voting Americans, your hollow words of domestic unity and peace overseas are officially sanctioned by the American people. How unfortunate for us all, and for the planet. Sure, the Democrats made a mistake allowing John Kerry to become your official opponent; but even against a long-winded establishment dinosaur like John Kerry, you still only won the popular vote by a few percentage points. That’s how afraid half of America was-and still is-concerning four more years of the Bush regime. Based on the past four years of your administration we know what to expect. We know that you have zero regard for the environment and are eager to divvy out our remaining National Parks and Wildlife Preserves to the Mining, Logging, and Oil industries. We can assume that Theodore Roosevelt is turning in his grave. We know that you have zero respect for innocent life, be it the millions of starving and uneducated here at home or the over 100,000 dead Iraqi civilians that you and your ilk so coldly deem “collateral damage.” You speak passionately of saving the unborn, but you abandon them once they are out in the world. We know that you and your overseers from The Project for the New American Century (see www.newamericancentury.org) will continue to drain resources from social programs, social security, and public education at home for the purpose of military might and domination abroad. Wolfowitz, Cheney, and Rumsfeld have made it perfectly clear that power is more important than telling the truth, seeking justice, or having any sense of humanity in our actions. We know that you’ll carry on allowing the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. The illusion of Reaganomics will continue to siphon wealth from the middle class and pour it into the pockets of, in your own words, “the haves, and the have mores.” If the middle class gets any smaller, Mr. President, you won’t ever need to reinstate the draft for all the wars you’ve got planned. You’ll have plenty of famished Americans enlisting just so they can eat three squares a day. Smart move. We also know that you’ll continue to use God for you own political ends. In 2000, almost immediately after you decided to run for President, you called all the leading pastors in Texas to the Governor’s mansion where they performed “The Laying of The Hands” upon you, effectively making you an ordained minister. You took Karl Rove’s advice when he told you to avoid contentious social issues in the political arena and instead stick to issues of faith and morality. Your ensuing Moral Relativism has made it impossible to admit mistakes or rationalize the deaths of 100,000 innocent Iraqi men, women, and children just to remove an impotent monster. The logic is you cannot be wrong if you’re an agent of the divine. But you, Mr. President, are a career politician, an agent of the status quo, spreading poverty, bloodshed, and chaos. Be honest with us, seriously, what God do you really serve? Now know something, Mr. President. Understand that half of America has your Administration in the crosshairs, that we disagree with your war in Iraq, your top-serving economic policies, and your inability to disappoint special interest groups. We will not allow your religious semantics to represent us to the world, and we will not let you turn America into a Theocracy. We will scream out for social justice. We will fight for clean air and water, for our trees and our wildlife, and everything else natural and beautiful that you’d destroy if given a blank check. We see you for who you really are. We know what you truly value. And we know exactly where you wake up everyday. The all-seeing eye is upon you from now on, Mr. President. You better let Karl Rove know he’s going to be working overtime for the next few years.
