To the Editor
The Clock has proven to be a very biased source of unprofessional journalism. During the recent elections The Clock pathetically and sadly tried to push their beliefs and desires to persuade voters at Plymouth State University to vote for John Kerry in the 2004 election.
I am a senior here at PSU and firmly and proudly supported Mr. Bush in the 2004 election and will always support President Bush, as do many students. The recent letter from Krystina Hajduczek thanking the Clock for allowing supporters of Mr. Bush to share their beliefs is absolutely absurd. To allow one student (Dustin Siggins) to write a column supporting President Bush vs. countless articles and people’s opinions degrading the President is Bogus! There was zero representation for the President and that is wrong!
For example, one week in the speak-out section; the question was “what shape will the nation be in four years?” and every single response except for maybe one was negative! And this past week where the question was, “what recommendations would you make to The Clock in Order to Make it a better student Newspaper,” and the letter entitled “I Love You, I Hate You” from Krystina Hajduczek were both obviously written to try and offset Mr. Neveln’s letter entitled “We Deserve Better From You,” which was very well written. The Clock is suppose to represent the student body and did not! It totally ignored other student’s beliefs and rights in order to push their personal agendas. The Clock is an embarrassment and does not represent the Student Body in any way. The paper is due for a total makeover and should be looked into.
People have a right to disagree with Dustin Siggins, as well as others have a right to disagree with Ryan Mclellan as I do. To suggest no one in the North East likes Mr. Bush is plain stupid! Mr. Bush won the popular vote and wouldn’t have been possible without the votes he did receive from the Northeast. The remark that he made as well, the northeast should become part of Canada makes me wonder which comment is more stupid! I attended a Bush campaign rally in Manchester prior to the Election and on the way to the rally there were Bush protesters and Kerry supporters, some of whom were saying, “got intelligence?” among other profanities. My question for the Clock is, “Got intelligence?”
God Bless President Bush, I am just sad that such unprofessional work is allowed within a University newspaper. During a time of War in this country there should be attempts at unity, not division. Under Mr. Bush’s excellent leadership, over 50 million suppressed people have been liberated and democracy and freedom have come to 2 Countries in dire need of assistance who could not help themselves! And more importantly, our men and women are fighting the same people who attacked American on September 11, 2001 in both Afghanistan and Iraq. This type of coverage is coverage I would expect from a high school paper!
