Hi Clock readers, I was hoping soon to have a paper that would pull through in giving me a little space to introduce myself, tell you all what I’m all about and what my hopes are for the Arts and Entertainment section of this newspaper. I saw a little opportunity to do so this week, so I jumped at the chance. I have to start off by saying how excited I am. This job completely fell right into my lap, and with some worries at first of how much time this was going to consume, all nerves quickly went away when I found out how much fun I could actually have with a section like this. As far as myself, I am a third year Sociology major, with no idea as to what I am going to do after I leave this little, security blanket of a town called Plymouth. Needless to say, I’m in no rush… at all. I love root beer, black raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips and gummy bears, I love music in every way shape and form, dancing is the best form of stress release (especially if your dancing in a completely non-serious way to songs like Rio by Duran Duran), High Fidelity is one of the best movies ever (which is why I felt compelled to put a whole section dedicated to John Cusak’s awesomeness, with a weekly top ten and a music tribute), I consider myself an awesome interior decorator, I believe I can fly, and I have a pet llama named Tina who currently resides with me in my student apartment. My goal for the Arts and Entertainment section of this paper is to get its readers amped each week to read. I would love for you guys to participate in the silly weekly top tens, to give ideas about what music you want to hear about, what concerts, what art exhibits are around that people would kill to see, what the status is on Brittney and her newborn, (…….kidding……). At any rate, I am going to do my complete best to make this year’s Arts and Entertainment section an amazingly-wonderful-can’t wait to see what’s next kind-of paper, and I would love your help, ideas, likes, dislikes, and whatever else you might possibly have for me. Give me some feedback, poetry, short stories, album reviews, and anything else you can think of at mesullivan@plymouth.edu.
Thanks for reading guys! Maribeth Sullivan
