Author Ben Jones Speaks at Pease Public Library

Ben Jones, best selling author of The Rope Eater, will speak and read from his work at Pease Public Library, Plymouth on Wednesday, November 2, at 7 pm. A reception and book signing will be held immediately after the talk. There is no charge for this event.Though born in Wales, Mr. Jones grew up in Vermont and was educated at Yale. As an adult he has explored living in Paris and Vermont, but not the Arctic of his prose. He now lives with his family in Boston.The Rope Eater is about a man who is first a wanderer, then an Arctic explorer and in the end a pilgrim. This exciting Northern adventure, set in 1860, is at the same time the exploration of a treacherous frozen land and the landscape of one man’s soul. The author comments not only on the nature of exploration and discovery, but also on the nature of our society. This interesting read was named one of the “Top Ten First Novels of 2004” by ALA/Booklist.The presentation by Mr. Jones continues the Pease Endowment Author Series sponsored by the Young Ladies Library Association of Pease Public Library, Plymouth. The series brings to the community of Plymouth and surrounding area some of the best of current authors. Mr. Jones comes to us in conjunction with the New Hampshire Humanities Council.The library is located at the foot of the Common in downtown Plymouth on 1 Russell Street.
