PLYMOUTH – A new school year means lots of changes. It means new classes, new professors, and maybe new friends, and of course new Clock staff.
With upcoming graduation, the Clock is losing a lot of important staffers, including Editor-in-chief Emily Perry.
Elections were held and the woman filling Perry’s shoes wants to keep the Clock going in the positive direction it has taken this year.
Samantha Kenney, who currently holds the position of Production Manager, will be taking over as Editor-in-Chief next semester.
Kenney is currently a second year communications major and has a plan regarding how The Clock will run next year.
“I have high expectations for The Clock,” said Kenney. “The staff has been working slowly to bring everything up to par from writing to design, and I think the improvements made this year are evident in each week’s edition of the Clock. I expect the pattern to continue next year, building little by little, until we have a product every week that competes with larger college papers.”
As far as changes to the Clock go, there’s always room for improvement, and Kenney plans on taking the Clock in one direction-up, “I would like to see a stronger design, something that when people walk by, they will be drawn to pick up the paper just by how it looks. I would like to add more columns, try some more controversial topics or add segments of interest as well. Next years Editors also have ideas for their sections that I hope will work in making the paper better.”
The Clock has become a reputable publication this past year, and small changes aside, Kenney wants to keep it that way, “Emily did a good job of building the paper up” She said “I would hate to take away from it what she did.”
