New Faces in Alpha Phi Sigma

On Monday, May 1, Plymouth State’s Criminal Justice Honor Society inducted 15 new members. The new members joined Alpha Phi Sigma’s 12 current 2005 members in a ceremony held in Centre Lodge.

Anna Aurelia, Rebecca Emmons, Nathan Gardner, Diana Gibbs, Jennafer Goetsch, Lindsey Green, Jason Hey, Jennifer Hill, Amanda Johnson, Matthew Kane, Christopher Ladd, James Moriarty, Dana Nevins, Lori Pettengill, and Mary Pillsbury were honored and welcomed following a keynote speech by Justice James Duggan.

Justice Duggan is one of five Associate Justices of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Justice Duggan taught at Franklin Pierce College for 20 years and served as dean of the school for two years. As a lawyer, he argued more cases before the New Hampshire Supreme Court than anyone in history.

Justice Duggan praised the inductees before giving the audience an overview of the workings and procedures of the New Hampshire Appellate Court.

Scholarship awards were presented to three Criminal Justice Majors. The Spirit Award was presented to Lindsey Green by Professor David Kent, the founder Plymouth State’s Criminal Justice program. Jeffrey Mank received the Constable Award, given to first year Criminal Justice majors, while Lindsey Green was presented with the Robert Peel Award, intended for seniors.

The new members took their oath at the end of the ceremony and were supported with a round of applause from parents, teachers, friends and other members.
