Plymouth State Art Club puts “heads” on display

Some questions may have arisen in the minds of those who saw the sculptured heads on the lawn in-front-of the HUB on Wednesday. The exhibition was sponsored by the Art Club, which is headed by president Anthony Cormier and Vice President Carla Blakely.

The display featured sculptures of human heads made by using oil-based clay, live models and an armature (a wooden block.) The heads were crafted by Sculpture I students and placed on the lawn for a one-day art exhibition.

The Art Club sponsors many other events on campus all year-round. “We sponsored two guest speakers last year,” Blakely said. They also fund a trip to New York every year so students can visit museums. The club is also currently painting a mural to be displayed in the Bursar’s office.

According to members, the club consists of about 12 members but is continuing to grow. The Art Club is always looking for new members and encourages students from all majors to join. They meet Thursday nights at 7 p.m. in the Draper and Maynard building, so interested students should stop by.
