Tuesday, November 7 marks the date for the New Hampshire gubernatorial elections. The voting polls for Plymouth will be at the elementary school, located off Highland Street on Old Ward Bridge. The voting will take place all day at the show. Any student enrolled at Plymouth State is eligible to vote in these elections, whether they are living on campus or off campus in the town of Plymouth.
If a student has registered to vote in the presidential elections, then they don’t need to register again except to update their address. If a student has not yet registered to vote, they still can register at the polls on Tuesday. All they need to register is photo identification, preferably a driver’s license.
To assist students who lack a way to the polls, the Student Body President and Vice President, as well as Plymouth State Democrats, will be providing transportation to and from Plymouth Elementary School. These vans will be running all day to get as many students to the polls to vote as possible.
Also on Tuesday, the Student Senate, in conjunction with the Student Body President and Vice President, will have a table outside of the HUB to give students information about the election. The information provided will be specific to things that have changed from the previous presidential elections.
For example, during the previous presidential elections, simply the residence hall and room number would do for a physical address. Now, though, the actual address of the residence hall is required. All of this information and more will be available at the table before boarding the vans to lessen the confusion once students get to the polls.
The college-aged student is statistically the least represented in all elections and Student Senate is doing everything they can to ensure that all Plymouth State students have all the resources they need to get to and from the polls. The Senate hopes that students will take advantage of the opportunities offered to them and get to the polls on Tuesday.
