Get a look at the girls of PSU

Students and community members alike will soon see a new calendar on the shelves of local stores, but they just might find some deeper incentive to buy it rather than just looking at beautiful women. College Calendar Promotions, a company created by Edward Stoesser , a Plymouth State University Alum, and Lauren Blake, a current PSU graduate student, has just put out their new calendar entitled Girls of PSU.Girls of PSU features 13 of Plymouth’s beautiful ladies respectfully photographed in several different places in town and the surrounding area by professional photographer Anarita Drukis. The calendar includes names, hometowns, majors, and favorite hobbies of the girls, who range from a sophomore childhood studies major who likes to box, to a senior figure skating communications major. This calendar is far more than another chance to view beautiful women. It is also a chance to give back to 11 specific charities. Each girl was asked to choose a charity or charitable service organization to receive a portion of the money made from the sale of each calendar. These charities include: Pemi Youth Center, Pemi Bridge House, Alzheimer’s Association, Buddy Dog Humane Society, American Diabetes Foundation, Matt Stern’s Cancer Fund, American Red Cross, Alliance for Education, Monadnock Kitty Rescue, The N.H. Humane Society, and Partners in Health. “It started out in my Small Business and Entrepreneurship class, which is like the capstone to the MBA program,” said Stoesser. “We were required to go through the motions of starting up a fake business as a project, so I decided that I would take it the extra step and just go for it.”Girls of PSU also includes a barrage of coupons from the Common Man Restaurant for things such as “buy two meals get the second half price.” This is a big deal because of the quality of the food and service at the Common Man, but such coupons are not an infrequent gift.”Every year they give out so many coupons to publications of every sort,” explained Stoesser. “It’s just one of the things that the restaurant does to give back to the community. The great thing about it is the calendar will more than pay for itself if you dine at the “Common Man.”Plymouth is the test school for Stoesser’s idea, and if it works out as well as he is hoping, his plan is to bring the idea to other New Hampshire schools helping local, state, and national charities along the way. There will be a calendar release party at the Lucky Dog on Tuesday November, 14. All of the girls featured in the calendar will be present. To contact College Calendar Promotions send an e-mail to girlsofpsu@yahoo.com, and visit www.girlsofpsu.com to get a sneak preview of the calendar.
