Sodexho clarifies November 17 article

I am writing this letter to clarify the process for “Exchange Meals” at Plymouth State University. An article appeared in your 11/10 edition that I did not feel captured the full message dining services wants our students to comprehend.

First and foremost, we always try to offer the greatest value for the meal plans being offered to students here at PSU. There is no way any of the retail operations on campus can compete with the selection and variety at Prospect Hall. With over 25 meal choices, dozens of beverages and a variety of sides and extras, none of the cash operations on campus are physically set up to offer that type of variety.

Because we use the same suppliers, products and recipes in all our locations, the quality is the same high standard in all of our campus locations. Yet, we recognize that individual life styles do not permit everyone to get to Prospect Hall during the regular operating hours. As you can imagine, keeping this type of variety available for extended periods of time can become quite costly to you, our customers. And, it also reduces the quality of the food being offered.

Rather than passing excessive costs on to the students at PSU, Residential Life and Dining Services started offering “Exchange Meals” this semester as an alternative means of getting something to eat. This program works best for some individuals and was never meant to be an equivalency of what you can get in Prospect Hall, but simply an exchange that will allow you to get something to eat without spending your flex-cash.

Because we need to plan accordingly, we take in to consideration student requests and offer a different Exchange Meal each week at each location. Substitutions are not allowed for this service and we appreciate the positive feedback we have gotten on the program thus far.

Current times and locations for this program are as follows:
