Meter Changes

On November 20, The selectmen for the town of Plymouth held a meeting concerning the new parking meters placed up Merrill Street, Langdon Street, and High street that charge $1.00 an hour and the negative reactions regarding the costs.

After discussing the issue at hand, the town selectmen voted and agreed that the parking meters will be $0.25 an hour.

The transition process will take a few weeks because the town of Plymouth needs to get new plates to install in the parking meters so they function correctly. Also, the selectmen decided that the meters themselves should be reinstalled and made more secure due to the vandalism of the meters since being installed. Once finished the transition period the meters will be expected to have full occupancy, and to help serve the students of Plymouth State University.

Until further notice, the parking meters will continue to be $0.25 for 15 minutes. Dan Fornash, student representative to the university parking committee, says, on behalf of the student senate as a whole, “We would all like to thank the students for their continued efforts in not vandalizing the meters. Also we would like to recognize and thank their patience during this process of finding a reasonable solution to the problem.”
