Jessica Hamlyn memorial service held Wednesday

On Wednesday, April 4, almost 200 people gathered to remember senior Jessica Hamlyn who was killed in an auto accident on March 4. Friends, family and administration gathered at Memorial Rock on the Alumni Green to remember Jessica in thoughts, kind words, and song. President Steen and Vice President Hage spoke in remembrance of Jessica, and the Plymouth State University Chamber Singers performed Stephen Chatman’s Remember Me.

Student Body President Peter Laufenberg and Student Body Vice President Andrew McLean led the procession with Plymouth’s eternal flame. It began with the lowering of the Plymouth State flag to half-mast, representing the loss of one of our own. Jessica’s friend Jonathan Fraser and her sister Amanda carried the wreath that was laid on Memorial Rock. Many of Jessica’s friends spoke in fondness of memories with Jessica.

The service was concluded with Amazing Grace, played on the trumpet by music education major Adrienne Pollner.
