On April 2, Tommy Thompson, the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary and former Governor of Wisconsin, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President. He is the ninth Republican nominee to join the race and is currently not even receiving 1% of potential candidacy among the polls.

One of his most prominent achievements, according to his official campaign website, tommy2008.com, is his reconstruction of a, “Bio-terrorism defense capability, making federal, state and local governments better prepared to respond to an attack.”

The 66 year-old Republican served as the Wisconsin Governor for fourteen years and as U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary for all seven years under current President George W. Bush.
