The investiture of President Sara Jayne Steen and the week of events prior, April 9 through 15, brings with it a multitude of community building activities put on by Plymouth State University students, faculty and local organizations.
The events kick off on April 5 with the Professional, Administrative and Technical (P.A.T.) staff of PSU presenting in the HUB with “Past, Present, and Future,” an event looking at the P.A.T.’s 30-year history on the PSU campus.
The actual investiture will take place on April 12 at 3 P.M. in the John C. Foley Gymnasium.
During the week, student projects will be displayed on Main Street and are sponsored by Plymouth State University faculty and students.
Some of week’s events include; “What is it like to be a PSU student?” a program that welcomes community members and allows them to take a campus tour in the morning, visit a residence hall, and sit in on a class period; A HUB Student Exposition, where students recognize and thank those who have made a lasting impact on their PSU experience, as well as several sporting events and a concert in the Silver Cultural Arts Center by the Walter Blanding Jr. Quintet.
April 13 will see a special concert held in the Hanaway Theatre, the U.S. premiere of “Zulu Mass” by Qinisela Sibisi. The concert features Plymouth State University Choirs, the Manchester Choral Society, New Hampshire Master Chorale, Pinkerton Academy, Keniston Kwaya with Orchestra, and the Akwaaba Traditional African drumming and dancing ensemble.
The week’s activities and the investiture of President Steen promise to be a fun and interesting way to celebrate the coming of spring and a new era for PSU.
