Adam White: sports done right on your local radio – 91.7 WPCR

There’s a new radio program on WPCR for anyone who needs their thirst for sports knowledge quenched. “Sports Done Right” with Adam White has officially hit the airways.

White gives his own insights into the sports news while talking with various guests about day-to-day sports current events. White, a junior from Somersworth who’s majoring in communications, came up with the idea almost accidentally.

“Basically I came into Plymouth as a criminal justice major. Sports have always been a passion of mine, whether it be sporting events or watching ESPN. I never thought that I could do anything with it job-wise until I met with a communications advisor and later changing my major to communications. I figured I’d take a shot and stick to my passion and maybe begin a career in broadcasting or television with sports,” White said.

The show covers news in a variety of sports from baseball, pro and college football and basketball, hockey, and even a little golf.

White said that the regular listeners of WPCR have really welcomed the show thus far, “I’ve gotten some great positive feedback from a couple of professors that were walking by when the show is on and we have it playing out in the HUB hallway.”

When talking about his experience on the radio, White said, “You really get a natural high when you’re doing it, and I didn’t think it would be this much fun. The stuff that you usually talk about in your dorm room you can say on the radio and get feedback from others.”

While White doesn’t have a set time that the show is on every week, because of his hectic schedule, he has big plans for the show starting next fall.

“Next year I plan on doing the show about three or four times a week and I’m going to try to put flyers out to pull in some more listeners. It doesn’t have a consistent fan base yet, but we had our first caller the other day, which was really exciting. I think it will definitely catch on, because there are a lot of people out there who like to shoot the hay about sports,” he said.
