This past week, sorority Psi Beta Gamma went before the Student Senate to regain campus recognition. After losing their charter several years ago due to a costly insurance policy, the sorority was approved for re-recognition by Student Senate on Sunday, April 22. The sorority started lobbying for re-recognition in 2005.
Psi Beta Gamma is a community-service orientated organization that was founded in 1987. Now that they are campus-recognized, the sorority can, “form a strong relationship with both Greek and student organizations and increase school spirit here on campus,” said Psi Beta Gamma President Ariel Vaillancourt. As a recognized organization, Psi Beta can also contribute more to Plymouth community as a whole.
“Our organization is based on community service. By gaining re-recognition we have more of an opportunity to advertise the community service we are involved in, to the local and school community,” said Vaillancourt.
