There is no correct way to host a premiere

A squall of flurries swamped Plymouth, N.H. throughout the day as a swarm of riders from the greater New England area made the transition from soggy gear to cold beer and a N.H. premiere of Rome’s “No Correct Way” on Sat., Nov. 22. The Rome crew came together with Eastern Boarder and Waterville Valley to host the first leg of the Premature Jibulation series. Following the contest, which witnessed WV Locals Brandon Reis claim first, Andrew Aldridge take second and Tanner McCarty take third, Rome and EB had things jumping off just after 6 p.m. for the troupe of riders and lurkers eager to catch a glimpse at two of the newest ’08/’09 videos.

Inside the clink and clank of the bar at Beiderman’s Deli, riders of age took serious advantage of two-dollar PBR Tall Boys while the young bloods counted the years until they could snag a tasty brew in addition to their grub. The last of the stragglers copped seats at the back just as Rome kicked off the video. Amongst Rome’s staff at the event was also filmer John Cavan and Rome Am Will Lavigne. Once several parts rolled through and everyone’s attention was fully focused on the screen, cheers and beers were poured out from the crowd when LNP’s part hit the screen. LNP’s section was definitely a solid crowd pleaser. The remainder of the film had prospective filmers and jibbers backslash jumpers taking notes on parts like Max Legend, Jonaven Moore and Bjorn Leines. Marie-France Roy’s section had the girls in the audience attention like it was an issue of Cosmo on proper female snowboarding.

The credits started to roll when Rome Snowboards Mary Walsh pulled up a make shift podium to conduct a quick raffle, handing out gear bags, gloves and videos from both Rome and Eastern Boarder. In between ticket callings and shouts of, “Oh my god! Wait that’s not my number,” attendees made bathroom and drink breaks before play was pushed on “The Eastern Boarder Team Movie.”

With sandwich filled bellies and beer saturated brains, filmers Matt Roberge and Tanner Pendleton’s song choice of The Chamber Brothers, “Time Has Come,” matched up nicely with tasty shots of what was to come. Tanner opened the video up with a thorough blend of rails and jumps as Colleen Quigley managed to snag a few clips in the middle of his section. Due to a midseason torn ACL, Ted Lavoie hadn’t logged a single jump shot but, what his part may lack in airtime, Lavoie makes up for throughout his part and well into the ender. Hetero life mates Sam Hulburt and Brandon Reis didn’t tag team a part, but Pendleton certainly made sure the parts followed one another. Their unique switch ups and jump lines provided two killer parts laced over with The Rolling Stones and The Flamin’ Groovies. Busting out a solid closing section and getting the crowed stoked out, without a doubt, was Chris Carr’s part. Threading needles, jamming poles and planting hands kept things fresh throughout the entirety of his installment of creative snowboard technique.

The crowd slowly bailed out of the dingy rock mortar basement of Beiderman’s just after 8 p.m., making their way onwards and outwards to whatever after parties were to be had. Both, Rome’s “No Correct Way” and “The Eastern Boarder Team Movie” are available at any Eastern Boarder retail store and online at EasternBoarder.com. Grab a beer, relax and enjoy the videos.
