All My Single Ladies

Spring is on the way, ladies, and you what that means….dating season! Spring fever is going to take Plymouth by storm in just a few months and girls you should be ready. So, do you want to know how to ace that first date? Here are some ways that you will keep that new guy coming back for more. First things first: never talk about an ex-boyfriend on a first date. Men don’t want think about you with a different guy especially the first time he is out with you. If he asks about your past relationships say something coy and cute and digress away from getting into the dirty, depressing details. All right, now that we have ruled out what you can’t talk about, you might be wondering: what can I talk about? Try to find some common ground on something you both might enjoy and run with it. For example: he likes going to the gym and you just started going to a Yoga class every week. Now that you have found something similar in each others’ tastes you have something to go on. As the conversation continues and grows, make sure you listen and seem interested. Guys will be more apt to keep talking if they feel comfortable and first dates are all about getting to know one another. Therefore, ladies, you have to make sure you are keeping that eye contact and listening to what your new man has to say. Speaking of listening….PUT THOSE CELL PHONES AWAY! According to MSN-Lifestyle, “a little courtesy goes a long way to making a guy feel appreciated. And, while refraining from checking your BlackBerry or cell phone is a given, there are smaller things women often neglect that can make a big difference.” A guy might be immediately turned off if in the middle of your date if you are punching away on your phone. The bottom line of first dates is if you don’t seem interested then he is not going to stay interested either. So not only do you want to refrain from picking up your cell phone but also be polite! Whatever text or call you get from your roommate asking on how the date is going can wait and if something does not go according to plan…don’t freak out! Then you will make your guy feel uncomfortable. Another very important piece of a first date is no matter how nervous you are and you think you need a few cocktails to calm you down, do not get drunk! There is nothing romantic about pulling your date’s head out of a toilet or holding back her hair. So ladies, if you decide to have a few casual drinks (and I cannot stress the word “casual” enough) make sure that you pace yourself. Of course there is that moment before your date when you change your outfit like seven times before you figure out what to wear. My advice to you is to appear sexy but not slutty. Let’s face it; guys are visual creatures. You want to wear something that accentuates all of your assets in a positive way but you don’t want to resemble something out of a brothel. Now while the spring season is approaching, keep these little tips in mind and maybe date number one will turn into date number two!
