The Allegation of a sexual assault that occurred in an off campus neighborhood were proven false on Mon. May 3.
PSU students received a warning regarding a reported sexual assault by an unknown assailant on April 30. A PSU student reported that she was picked up on Langdon Street and assaulted before being dropped off in an on campus parking lot.
The woman who filed the original complaint of assault admitted that the allegations were false on Mon. evening. An email lifting the warning was promptly sent to students.
“The moment we discovered the information was inaccurate we [advised the campus]” Investigator Jennifer Frank of the University Police Department said Officials are required by the Clery Act to alert the community of assaults that are assaulted by unknown assailants.
Students are still cautioned to use normal precautions when they are walking around campus this weekend.
