Where to beach it!

As summer approaches and the weather gets warmer, thoughts of summer activities and adventures come to mind! A great way to find some summer fun at a low cost is to utilize the beautiful beaches and lakes around New England. There are many beaches and lakes to go to that aren’t too far out of the way- here’s a few!

Starting with the beautiful state of Maine. M.E. has numerous beaches one can find very quickly and easily. The entire coast of M.E. holds some of the best and most unbelievable sights in New England. Southern M.E., to be more specific Scarborough, M.E., has some wonderful beaches. The first beach is Pine Point Beach. Pine Point Beach holds a two-mile coast beach that literally runs into Old Orchard Beach, in Old Orchard, M.E.

The beach has sand bars, a beautiful jetty where you can fish, and endless amounts of sand dollars and sea glass. Pine Point Beach accommodates for the people of all ages. They even have a seafood restaurant not even a half a mile away to a yummy snack bar right on the beach! The coastline wonder in Maine is Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park is located in Bar Harbor, ME. This beautiful park holds a rocky coastline, hiking, and even twenty plus miles of carriage trails for bikers! It’s a great place for everyone because it holds some of the most beautiful sights imaginable on its lengthy beach coast.

Next in New England is New Hampshire. New Hampshire has a variety of great lakes and also dabbles in some of the most well-known beaches in New England. A great place to venture down the road to is Lake Winnipesaukee. Lake Winnipesaukee can be found in Wolfeboro, N.H. Lake Winnipesaukee offers a span of seventy-two miles of water fun! On the lake you can see boaters, water skiers, wake boarders, and endless tubing adventurers! This lake is a great place to just get away, sit back, and relax.

Though N.H. has some great lakes, it also has some great hidden beach jewels. In the great town of Rye, N.H. there is a great beach called Rye Beach. A PSU student, Carley Barton from Rye, N.H. says, “Rye Beach has been a beautiful place to grow up. Rye is a really relaxed town. Everyone just hops in their cars and heads to the beach in the morning, barefoot in their bathing suits.” Growing up in Rye, Carley finds it nice to come home and relax on the beach. She said, “Some of the beaches in Rye are more touristy, like Wallis Sands beach, however there are plenty of other rye beaches that I feel give off a better vibe of Rye.” So, if you want to get a little fun in the sun, head down to one these great escapes!

Our final state is Massachusetts, known for being one of the greatest beach states in New England. Does Cape Cod ring a bell? Beautiful Cape Cod is the most prominent vacation spot New England. “The Cape” community brings great beaches to its annual vacationers. Marconi Beach in Wellfleet is a beautiful beach to visit. Marconi Beach is known for its smooth sand and inlet type feel with the high dunes before you hit the beach. The waves at Marconi Beach are home to surfers and boogie borders alike. If you like some great rays of Sun and unbelievable waves and views, go to Marconi Beach in The Cape.
Don’t be afraid to hop into your car and visit these awesome beaches! You are guaranteed a great time whether you are playing in the sand or body surfing. Just remember to put on your SPF and have some fun!
