Already having an impressive 2-0 record to start as they started their season on the road, the Panthers came roaring into (pun intended) Hanaway Rink on Tuesday night.
The Plymouth State Panthers hosted the team from Westfield State for the home opener of the 2011-12 Men’s Hockey Season. PSU found themselves down early in the game, when Rory Wilkowich scored on a neat centering pass to put Westfield State up by 1. PSU then tied it 1-1 with three minutes left in the second when Alex Cottie scored on a pass from Junior Kyle Greco. The third period is when the PSU offense really found their stride erupting for three unanswered goals to send the crowd home happy.
The Panthers next hosted the team from Framingham State University on Thursday evening.
The Ram’s jumped out to an early lead with a pair of first-period power play goals. Plymouth State was able to find the net at 5:37 of the second period, when junior Richie Zobak (showing considerable puck handling skills) scored. Sophomore Dave Walters scored a power play goal at 11:44 to make it 2-2. The Panthers scored again at 15:24 when Junior Phil Moore scored what would end up being the game winner.
