Last Sat. night saw an uncommon amount of violence in Plymouth. The first incident occurred when a student at a party threatened others with a chainsaw after the party got out of hand.
A witness and resident of the house, who wishes to remain anonymous, said, “we had our own DJ and everything, the party was sick, up until that point.” That point being when someone referred to another party guest as a “fag.”
“I was trying to cool the kid off, and then he punched me.” After a brief scuffle everything cooled off. Then, according to an eyewitness’ testimony, the fight was instigated again when a large group of males returned to the party in a rowdy mood. An unidentified male who used the chainsaw “wanted everybody gone from that group that showed up, so he broke out the chainsaw.”
The now-infamous chainsaw buzz kill remains at large.
Later that evening, across town, another incident occurred. Timothy Kershner, the Chief Public Relations Officer for PSU, sent out a mass e-mail to all undergraduate students that read:
“According to a Plymouth Police Department spokesperson, at approximately 6:18 a.m. yesterday (Sunday), a call was received by the Plymouth 9-1-1 Center that several males were in the intersection of Winter & Wentworth Streets and appeared to be about to engage in a fight. When Plymouth Police arrived on the scene, they found a lone male suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound.”
What “appeared to be a stab wound,” was, and the male, who was identified as a non-student, was rushed to Speare Memorial Hospital. The victim was not identified by name.
