Plymouth, N.H. – The Plymouth State Men’s Soccer team hosted rival Keene State this past weekend in a pivotal Little East Conference soccer match in front of a rambunctious homecoming crowd at Panther Field.
Both teams’ defenses were impressive throughout, as there was no score after 60 minutes of play. After being awarded a free kick, sophomore Joss Knol (Wellington, New Zealand) was able to boot it right in front of the goal. Although the kick was stopped by the KSC keeper, freshman Ted Karlstand (Halmstad, Sweden) was able to collect the rebound and get it to the back of the net for his first career goal and the game winner. It should also be pointed out that Karlstand was playing in only his second game of the season!
The star of the game would have to be the PSU defense. Senior goal keep Bjorn Ohlsson (Halmstad,Sweden) had a great day with six saves. He was helped by an impressive defensive line that includes senior Joakim Martisson (Morlunda, Sweden), juniors Adam Groves (Brooksville, Maine) and Christian Bua (Gilford, N.H.) and freshmen Alex Herbert (Lexington, Mass.) which held KSC to only 12 shots on the day.
Plymouth State next plays at home on Wednesday, when the host Daniel Webster College.
