PSU Women’s Tennis Team Triumphant Against Worcester State

 

Plymouth, N.H. – The Plymouth State women’s tennis team celebrated Senior Day this past Saturday as they hosted they Worcester State University in a Little East Conference showdown.

         Leading the way for the Panthers was senior Sara Burke (Barrington, R.I.) who not only won her singles match with a score of 6-2, but she also won her doubles match when she teamed up with junior Molly Heartfield (Dorset, VT) for a final score of 8-3. After her win Saturday, Burke has won five straight single matches, improving to 8-3 on the season, and her 29th career singles victory overall, the most in Plymouth State history and a distinction she will now have with six others.

         Also posting victories for the Panthers on the day in either single or doubles action were junior Jane Duggan (Saunderstown, R.I.), junior Chelsea Thibeault (Manchester, N.H.), freshman Nitsa Ioannides (El Cajon, Calif.) and fellow freshman Andra Dion (Ashland, N.H.). With her win in singles action, Ioannides improved her season total to 8-2 and matches Sara Burke for most wins for the team this season.

Plymouth State will conclude their season this week as they have road games against Franklin Pierce University on Thursday
