Plymouth, N.H. – With only three other teams being able to post a better record, the Plymouth State Field Hockey team looked to continue their winning this season as they hosted the team from Framingham State in a Little East Conference match this past Wednesday (10/17/2012) at Arold Field.
Sophomore Sam Carberry (Shrewsbury, Pa.) got the Panthers on the board early into play as she was able to score unassisted for her first goal of the season, and put PSU up 1-0. Plymouth State scored again only a few minutes later when senior Olivia Colborn (Lancaster, N.H.) set up sophomore Tayla Corrado (Saugus, Mass.) to make 2-0. Colborn was back at it again only a few minutes later when she picked up a loose ball in front of an open net and fired it into the back of the net to make it 3-0. Less than a minute later sophomore Nikki Gavey (Canaan, N.H.) fired a pass to junior Lauren Carroll (Rollinsford, N.H.) to put the score at 4-0 going into the next half.
The Rams started to show some life finally when they scored about three minutes into the second to finally get on the board and make it 4-1. Plymouth didn’t take long to answer, as Garvey was able to make a run down the side and fire off a shot that found its way to the back of the net to make it 5-1. Sophomore Emily Davis (Boscawen, N.H.) scored off an impressive pass from Carroll to make it 6-1, Garvey scored her second on the day only a minute after to make it 7-1, and Colburn rounded out the scoring on the day after she scored her second goal of the day to make the final score 8-1.
Plymouth State will next be in action this coming Saturday as they travel to Bridgewater State in a LEC matchup.
