A Late Goal The Decision Maker in Field Hockey Game

North Dartmouth, Mass. – With a trip to Little East Conference field hockey tournament final game on the line, the fourth-seeded Plymouth State traveled to take on top-seeded University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

UMass struck first at 5:51 to go up 1-0. It didn’t take Plymouth State long to respond. Junior Lauren Carroll (Rollinsford, N.H.) was able to get a pass off to sophomore Nikki Garvey (Canaan, N.H.) who drilled a shot into the back of the goal to tie the game at 1-1. UMass scored again only a few minutes later to put the score at 2-1. Both teams played to a stalemate from the remainder of the half.

Plymouth State wasted little time in the second half and tying up the game. Junior Jackie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) was able to make the unassisted goal to even up the score at 2-2. UMass struck again with only about 2:00 left to play in the game to end the game.

The Panthers will next be in the action this coming week, as they will partake in ECAC New England Tournament.
