Women’s Shutout Against Franklin Pierce

Plymouth, N.H. – A flurry of goals in the second period broke a scoreless tie and propelled Franklin Pierce over the Plymouth State women’s hockey team to a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at Hanaway Rink.

Franklin Pierce was leading on the day by junior goaltender Amelia Gray who stopped all 24 shots that she faced on the day. With the win Franklin Pierce improves to 4-6 overall, while Plymouth State falls to 2-7.

After a scoreless first, the Ravens broke open the scoring a few minutes into the second when Colleen Doucette scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season to make the score 1-0. Franklin Pierce would score a pair of goals only a few minutes later to make it 3-0.

The Ravens would score again with only 40 seconds to play in the final frame off a 4-on-3 power play situation.

This was the last game for the semester for the Panthers. They will next be in action on Jan. 5-6 when they travel UMass Boston to take part in the Codfish Bowl Tournament.
