Please Read This Message – Siren Test has Changed!
Plymouth State University will conduct a test of the emergency siren at noon on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. At that time, the emergency siren will sound for about 5 minutes in approximately 30-second intervals. The university will be conducting a complete and thorough test of the system to include a check of the mechanical function of the siren itself and the university’s emergency response to a crisis alert. As such, all members of the community are expected to respond to the drill as they would an actual emergency alert in an effort to simulate the expected response in the event of an actual emergency. In the past we have only tested the mechanical function of the alert system and have not tested the university’s emergency response to the alert. As a result of the recent tragedies that have occurred at educational institutions across the nation, we are testing the siren and the alert response to make certain that the community is adequately prepared to respond in the event of an actual crisis.
